Porridge is my second favourite breakfast after green smoothies, and I usually have it when I'm away from home or when I feel like something warm and sweet.

It seems incredible that something so easy to do is so delicious.

There are many different ingredients that we can use; my latest discovery has been almond butter and coconut oil; I love to spoon oatmeal because it gives it a very creamy and rich touch.

I usually take advantage of the fruit of each season, so it occurred to me to make some apple porridge, but instead of cooking it in a saucepan, I baked it, and it is delicious.

For the day today, I prefer to prepare them traditionally because it saves a lot of time, but I had wanted to try cooking them in the oven for a long time, the good thing is that you do not have to stir and it has a different and more intense flavour.

It is curious that in other countries, oats are used so much, and here in Spain, it is not a very specific product.

It is a very versatile and healthy cereal, which gives a lot of play in the kitchen and is also a very economical alternative to other grains that are usually difficult to find and much more expensive.

  • You can use any vegetable milk (or even use only water), sweetener, fruit, dried fruit, dried fruit, spice and in general, any ingredient that you like and that you have on hand.
  • If you are celiac or cannot eat oats, you can use other cereals; some people use quinoa or buckwheat. I have yet to make a similar recipe suitable for coeliacs. Am I not forgetting you?

Ingredients SCALE (1x)

  • 1 cup of rolled oats (120 g)
  • 1 cup of boiling water (250 ml)
  • Two apples
  • One banana
  • 1/2 cup of raisins (80 g)
  • 1/4 cup of oat milk (65 ml)
  • Two tablespoons maple syrup
  • Two tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Ingredients SCALE (2x)

  • 2 cup of rolled oats (240 g)
  • 2 cups of boiling water (500 ml)
  • Four apples
  • Two banana
  • 1 cup of raisins (160 g)
  • 1/2 cup of oat milk (130 ml)
  • Four tablespoons maple syrup
  • Four tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg

Ingredients SCALE (3x)

  • 3 cup of rolled oats (360 g)
  • 3 cups of boiling water (750 ml)
  • Six apples
  • Three banana
  • 1 1/2 cup raisins (240 g)
  • 3/4 cup of oat milk (195 ml)
  • Six tablespoons maple syrup
  • Six tablespoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg


  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC or 355ºF.
  2. Put the rolled oats in a bowl and add boiling water to cover them (about 1 cup). Let it rest for about 10 minutes.
  3. When the time has passed, the oatmeal will have absorbed all or most of the water. Add the apples and bananas, raisins, oat milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir and pour the mixture into an oven-safe tray or container.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
