If you have not noticed, the banana is one of our favourite fruits; it is delicious, very nutritious, inexpensive, and gives a lot of play in the kitchen. 

It's rare the day when I don't eat at least one banana, and I usually have more than one, especially for breakfast in green smoothies or with oatmeal porridge.

Ideally, bananas are ripe, have more nutrients, are richer, and are sweeter and more nutritious. 

When they are ripe, they are usually softer and have brown spots.
