Easy Homemade Tahini Recipe

Tahini | danceofstoves.com #vegan
Tahini or tahini is a paste or sauce made from sesame or sesame often used in Middle Eastern cuisine, in dishes such as hummus or baba garnish (we have yet to share the recipe with you, it's to die for).

The original recipe uses roasted sesame, although sometimes we have prepared it with raw sesame, and the result is also spectacular. You can buy sesame already roasted or toast raw sesame, which is what we usually do.

The hummus was the first recipe we published on the blog, and we are very fond of it; we prepare it often, and we always use homemade tahini because it is cheaper and natural. It only has three ingredients: sesame, extra virgin olive oil and salt.

If you buy toasted sesame, the recipe is prepared in less than 5 minutes because you have to put the ingredients in a blender or food processor and beat them until a paste is formed. If you buy it raw like us, you will have to toast it.

It's effortless; add the sesame to a hot pan and leave it over medium heat until lightly browned, about 5 minutes or so.

Despite its colour and consistency, tahini is a delicious sauce with many uses in the kitchen, it is similar to peanut butter, and we love to eat it spread on bread or even spoonfuls.

In the following recipe, we will use the tahini to make an ideal sauce to accompany summer rolls, which are the light and healthy version of spring rolls.

The heat is already here, and we have to compensate for the sweets we eat because, as you may already know, we are a hopelessly sweet tooth.
