Simple Homemade Rice Milk

If you do not consume dairy or if you are thinking of quitting (I encourage you to do so), you can find a wide variety of vegetable milk on the market; the problem is that they are usually expensive and many of them contain ingredients that are not healthy such as white sugar, preservatives, colourants, among others.

The good thing is that vegetable milk is very easy to make and generally tend to be much cheaper, like rice milk, which only has water and rice

I have added dates to make it sweeter, but you can use another sweetener or add nothing. If you want your milk to be more or less thick or dense, you can add more or less rice.

I had never encouraged myself to prepare rice milk, and the truth is that I do not know why, since it is straightforward to prepare, you have to mix cooked rice (steamed or boiled) with the water and the sweetener of your choice.

You can strain it if you don't have a powerful blender or prefer a more liquid texture, although it is unnecessary.

To strain it, I recommend that you use a cheesecloth, cloth or utensil to make vegetable milk since it may not be perfect with a filter.

In this case, I have used brown rice because it is healthier and more nutritious, but you can use any rice

You can also add more flavour to your milk by adding vanilla, cocoa, carob powder, cinnamon or whatever ingredient you like.

This milk is more digestive than soy milk, it is suitable for celiacs, unlike oatmeal, and it has fewer calories than those made from nuts, such as almonds.

Rice is a very healthy cereal, especially if we consume the full version. Carbohydrates are not to be afraid of as long as they are healthy and unrefined.

It surprises me that in many diets, they are prohibited when the base of the diet of many long-lived and traditionally thin cultures (such as the Chinese or the Japanese) is rice

If the right carbohydrates are chosen and cooked correctly, we can consume them daily without fear of gaining weight.

In general, I recommend consuming any vegetable milk in about 3 or 4 days because they do not have preservatives, and after that time, it can spoil.

In any case, in your case, specific milk may last more or less time; look at its smell, colour and consistency; if you see that there are changes or that it does not look good, it is better to throw it away and make another new.

Plant milk is much healthier than cow's milk, and if they are made at home, they do not have to be more expensive.
