Best Natural Body Scrubs

A few months ago, we surveyed to determine your opinion about the blog, what we can improve and what new content might interest you.

Natural cosmetics was one of the topics with the most votes. I also did a mini-survey on Facebook, and most of you chose this topic, so from time to time, I will share some products I use to take care of my body on the outside.

As you know, we care a lot about health; it is one reason we follow this type of diet and why years ago I switched to natural cosmetics

But being vegan is not only about eating vegetables, but we do not consume anything of animal origin, or that has been tested on animals.

Oddly enough, it is straightforward to find these types of products on the market, except for some medications, although if we lead a healthy lifestyle, it is less likely that we have to use them.

It is also essential to use natural products because our skin is the largest organ in our body and absorbs more than 60% of what we put in, passing into our blood.

If we use cosmetics full of artificial chemicals, they will become part of us, not what we want, right?

Today I want to talk to you about the first natural product that I introduced in my life, a very inexpensive and effective natural scrub; in fact, my skin looks much better than with any other scrub I've tried. You only need two ingredients: oil and coarse salt, nothing more!

The oil has to be unrefined and better than coconut because it hardens in cold weather. I usually use extra virgin olive oil because I always have it at home, it is not the most expensive, and I do not mind smelling like a salad; in addition, the smell lasts a short time.

Sweet almond oil is also a great option, but make sure it's an unrefined oil.

You can also make this scrub with acceptable salt, baking soda or sugar, although I like coarse salt because it keeps well and it is a deeper exfoliation that does not harm my skin even though I have sensitive skin.

How to use it?

Too easy. Once a week in the shower, after having rinsed the soap from our body, we take the scrub with our hand and rub the mixture all over our body (not including the neck and face) as we would with any other scrub (the ideal is to do it by giving circular massages from the ankles up).

In the case of women, the chest is a more sensitive area, so rub carefully, very gently. When we have finished exfoliating, we rinse with water, and it is not necessary to hydrate because the oil has already nourished our skin. We dry gently, and that's it.

Below you can see step by step how I do it:

I keep it in a glass jar in a bathroom cabinet, and it lasts a long time, so you don't have to worry about expiration.

I am also a big fan of dry brushing, although you have to be careful with these brushes because they are often made with bristles of animal origin.

Mine was a gift, so I don't know where it's from, but I've done some research and seen that there are a couple of options in Amazon like this brush (I haven't tried it, but it looks excellent).

Ideally, Who should make it with natural materials, other brushes are made of plastic, but I do not recommend them

The good thing is that this brush can last you a lifetime, so it is worth the investment, and they usually cost between 5 and 10 euros approximately (not a big deal considering how long they last and the game that we are going to get).

How is dry brushing done?

Before showering, we rub with the brush on dry skin, making circular movements from the feet up and towards the heart, being careful with the most sensitive areas, and not using it on the neck or on the face (I will share natural alternatives to facial scrubs).

The ideal is to do dry cleaning every day; it has many benefits: it stimulates the lymphatic system, improves circulation, helps prevent and reduce cellulite, etc. If you want, I can make a more detailed entry on the subject (Leave a comment).

And that's it for today; thank goodness I wanted to make a short entry! I hope you liked it. ?

Natural Body Scrubs

The skin absorbs what we put on it; that's why I use natural products like these body scrubs. They work very well and are inexpensive.

  • Preparation: 5 mins
  • Total: 5 minutes

  • Coarse salt
  • Unrefined oil

  1. Fill a glass jar with coarse salt.
  2. Add oil to cover the salt.
  3. Stir. Removing some of the oil will probably go down, so add more until the salt is covered.
