Vegan Lentil Pate Recipe

Lentil Pate. - This lentil pâté is perfect for breakfast, to make sandwiches or as a garnish or snack with bread, crudités or nachos.
This vegan lentil pâté has been a discovery; what a delicious thing! I was looking forward to a change in my breakfast because for quite some time; I was having the same thing: smoothies (fruit and vegetable smoothies) or oatmeal porridge.

Generally, in winter, almost every day, I have porridge. However, in summer, I cannot part with my beloved smoothies.

Still, I have wanted to have bread for breakfast for some time, so I have looked for healthy food (in a German bakery in Seville, it is called Das Brot), and I have also been thinking about options to accompany the bread.

I have to clarify that the bread in the photo is not the one I am telling you because we made the pate before discovering this incredible bakery, which was recommended to me by Conchi from Red Verde, a store that if you are vegan or interested in healthy eating and live in Seville or you pass through here, you cannot miss it.

Oil, tomato and avocado never fail; I also like nut butter with homemade jam, and vegetable patés are another delicious option. Hummus is not lacking at home, but I like to vary what I eat, so I came up with this recipe.

It has a consistency similar to hummus, although it has a more intense flavour, especially when it is not freshly made. It is a very soft and fluffy pate, perfect for breakfast or also as a snack or to make sandwiches.

If you do not eat bread, you can accompany it with carrots or any other raw vegetables or with some nachos.

Advice:

  • Any lentils can be used to make this recipe. You can also use any other cooked or pot legume.
  • Dried tomatoes are not essential, although I recommend that you use them. You can buy them already hydrated in oil, hydrate them at home following our recipe or hydrate the dried tomatoes in hot water (you have to heat water and leave the dried tomatoes to soak until they are soft).
  • Instead of tahini, you can use any nut cream, whole nuts or oil.
  • If you do not consume soy, substitute the tamari or soy sauce for sea salt to taste.
  • The spices are also optional; you can add or remove whatever you want.
