  • Leave the rolled oats in a bowl of water for at least 30 minutes.
  • Strain the oats and wash them with water.
  • Please put it in a blender or food processor and the rest of the ingredients and 1 litre of clean water (photo 1). Beat for about 2 minutes (photo 2). Let it rest for 1 hour (you can take it immediately, but it is better if you let it rest).
  • Strain the oat milk through cheesecloth, cloth or with an excellent strainer to separate the liquid from the remains of oat flakes (photo 3). Strain again 2 or 3 more times to obliterate the remains (photo 4). It is not essential to strain the milk more than once, but it looks better that way.

Advice

  • Instead of syrup, you can use 1-2 Medjool dates (or double if they are Deglet Nour) or any other sweetener.
  • Salt is optional, but it enhances the flavour.
  • I also usually make unsweetened oat milk for both sweet and savoury dishes.
  • To make the milk, add 3 cups (750 ml) of water, taste it, and add more water until you get the flavour and texture you want. You can also add more than 4 cups or 1 litre if you want it less thick.
