How To Make Chocolate Cups

This recipe for chocolate cups is a staple in our recipe book; you only need four ingredients: chocolate, dates, banana and water. Easy, simple, fast and cheap, it has it all!

I love sweets, but they usually have two drawbacks: that they are very caloric in many cases and that it takes a long time to prepare them. That is why we like this recipe so much, because it is pretty light and because it is ready in a moment.

We do not like to complicate life in the kitchen too much, and that is why we usually share recipes in which we do not need many utensils but essential things that we all have in the kitchen.

For this recipe, you only need a bowl and a saucepan to melt the chocolate in a bain-marie, a blender to make the filling and a mould to put the mixture. 

We use papers or muffin capsules that we place in our cupcake mould, but you can also use silicone moulds or individual flan; anything will do. You can also do without papers, we use them because it is more comfortable for us, but it is unnecessary.

We have used date paste (which is made by mixing dates with water) and banana, but you can change the ingredients without a problem. We like it because it is very healthy, light and also delicious.

In the next photo, you can see how we prepare our chocolate cups, melt the chocolate, but part of it in the bottom of the mould, add the filling and cover it with more chocolate.

We use chocolate with more than 70% cocoa because it is what we like and because it is healthier since it does not contain milk, and the one we use is organic and contains brown sugar. However, you can use your favourite chocolate and add a sweetener if you have a sweet tooth.

You can make them the same size as us, or you can also make them smaller as if they were chocolates. To make them like this, you can use paper or moulds for chocolates or mini cupcakes; they are adorable and less sentimental.

It is a vegan recipe, light and easy, suitable for celiacs, lactose intolerant and allergic to eggs. If you like chocolate as much as we do, you will surely love it. 

You can also add some dried fruit to the chocolate or to the filling, or any ingredient that comes to mind, it is straightforward to change the recipe, and the result continues to be spectacular.

Ingredients SCALE (1x)

  • 400 grams of chocolate
  • 75 grams of dates
  • 75 millilitres of water
  • One banana

Ingredients SCALE (2x)

  • 800 grams of chocolate
  • 150 grams of dates
  • 150 millilitres of water
  • Two banana

Ingredients SCALE (3x)

  • 1200 grams of chocolate
  • 225 grams of dates
  • 225 millilitres of water
  • Three banana

Instructions

  1. We put the chopped chocolate in a bowl and melt it into a bain-marie.
  2. To make the filling, beat the dates, water and banana in a blender or food processor.
  3. We put a layer of chocolate in the mould (we use this cupcake mould with papers or muffin capsules) and put it in the fridge for about 5 or 10 minutes (this is optional).
  4. We take the mould out of the fridge and add the filling. We cover with more chocolate and put it in the refrigerator until they harden.
